So for my uni elective (side course thing), animation and set design, we had to design a character based on ourselves. It was meant to be like a shadow, a charicature, an alter ego, you get the idea. I asked around and the one which kept creeping up was a cat so I went with it (I think its because Im practically nocturnal, quite sarcastic and have a tendency to claw people if im attacked/tickled/drunk/scared).
We had to include a working complex armature which is what the first picture is. That bad boy is inside the cat. It has a plug-in head for ease of changing heads/expression if you were to actually animate it, working joints on the legs/ankles and armature wire on the arms and tail. Once we had this we had to sculpt our characters using plasticine (so that the character would still be movable) and then paint it. I chose orange just because its a happy sort of colour...I also covered her in paint splats and painted her tail blue to make it look like shes been using her tail to paint.
Anyways, we had to have a set also and I chose to do an art sudio as all I ever seem to be doing is drawing and sketching. I made he base out of mdf in the shape of a palette. The props I made using super sculpy painted with acrylic (and a whooooole lot of time). I made the art table and easel out of mdf which I 'aged' using a craft knife to cut chunks out and scratch them, and then stained with dark wood stain.
I did the mini paintings too, and the random balls on the floor are supposed to be balled up 'aintings gone wrong', theyre a lot easier to see in real life.
Yeah anyways im sure theres a million other things I could say but I doubt anyone has made it even this far, but if you have then give yourself a cookie. XsarahX
Time: christ I dont have a clue...I made the character over two weeks and the set over one due to my lack of time keeping skills and the approaching deadline Tools: selection of craft knives, paints and such, crafting tools and heavy machinery
OMG this is amazing! I hope you got the best grade in the class!!!!!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
